The studio
A quieter way to furnish a room.
Halden began as a workshop in a former orchard barn. We make a short list of objects — chairs, lamps, bowls — and we stop when the run is done.
Materials first
White oak, honed travertine, Belgian linen, stoneware thrown in New York. We don’t finish wood in plastic. We don’t chrome what should be brass. Surfaces are meant to take on the marks of a household.
Lighting is spun or turned, not stamped. Tableware is high-fired, so it can go in the oven and the dishwasher. Upholstery is a wool-blend bouclé that pills honestly instead of shining.
Small runs
Glaze lots and timber batches are finite. When a finish is gone, we do not recreate it from a photograph.
Lead times
In-stock tableware ships in a few days. Furniture is made to order, typically three to seven weeks, and packed in the studio.
Care
Oil oak when it looks dry. Dust brass, don’t polish it. Stoneware hairlines over years of use; that is the glaze settling in.
